The importance of choosing products and technologies with an Environmental Product Declaration
EPD is the acronym for “Environmental Product Declaration”. It is a standardized and third-party verified document. which provides information on the environmental impacts of a product or service throughout its entire life cycle.
It is not a certification system for buildings but they are particularly relevant in the construction sector, where building materials with EPDs often contribute to the achievement of credits in building certifications such as LEED and BREEAM.

TO START WITH... LABEL SPA : WE PROMOTE THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY TO CONTRIBUTE TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
In LABEL Spa, environmental sustainability is not a simple declaration of intent, but a conscious and concrete choice. Our company, specialized in door automations e automatic pedestrian and hospital doors has chosen to integrate technological innovation with a long-term vision, aiming at energy saving, to the reduction of environmental impact and to the active contribution towards a Sustainable Development.

The International Context: From Green Deal to Green Building
The European Green Deal is the European Union's strategy to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
It is an ambitious action plan that aims to transform the European economy by making it sustainable, modern and competitive, tackling the climate and environmental crisis, leaving no one behind.
Global dynamics, such as theEU Green Deal of 2019, also highlighted the importance of sustainability in the construction sector, involving contractors, designers and clients first and foremost.
The approach of the green building represents today one of the main levers for reducing consumption, improving people's well-being and safeguarding the planet. At an international level, attention towards more sustainable building projects is linked to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, a set of 17 goals to be achieved by 2030 to ensure prosperity, health and environmental protection.
Green Building: What it is and Why it is important
Il Green Building, or sustainable construction, is an approach that aims to design, construct and manage buildings in a way that reduces environmental impact and maximizes the efficiency of resources (such as energy and water), reduces waste and pollution, and creates healthy and comfortable environments.
This vision involves the entire supply chain, from materials to the technologies used, including the systems automatic pedestrian doors which optimise the use of entrances, avoiding heat loss, ensuring maximum energy efficiency and improving the well-being of users.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The United Nations SDGs provide a clear and measurable framework. The adoption of sustainable solutions in construction, such as the use of low-energy automatic door systems, can help reduce CO2 emissions, water consumption and waste production. According to some data, reaching the planned targets could lead, by 2030, to enormous savings in terms of resources and reduction of negative externalities for the country system. Tools such as LEED, BREEAM and other “green” certifications help measure the progress made in this direction.
International Sustainability Rating Systems: Evaluating and Improving Buildings
Rating systems (such as BREEAM, LEED) are international methodologies that allow you to evaluate the level of sustainability of a building. Through a system of credits and scores, these certifications provide a clear "photograph" of the environmental performance of a project. For designers and architects, they represent a fundamental tool for understanding where to intervene to improve the energy saving, reduce environmental impact and ensure a better quality of life for users.
- BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method): is a method of assessing the sustainability of buildings developed in the United Kingdom, which evaluates the environmental impact of a building throughout its entire life cycle.
- LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design): is a U.S. certification system that measures the sustainability of buildings, focusing on aspects such as energy efficiency, the use of sustainable materials and the quality of the indoor environment.
Green Evaluation Categories
The certifications analyze key parameters such as energy, water, materials, transportation, waste, pollution, health and well-being, management and ecology.
By analyzing each of these aspects, the rating systems provide an overall score and, consequently, a final classification of the building. This makes it easier to identify areas for improvement and, above all, to valorize the interventions already carried out.
